BSS Cross Country

Congratulations to all competitors for their efforts in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival! The top four from the Inter-house trials had the opportunity to represent the school at the BSS Cross country carnival held at the Old Burdekin Race track for the U12s and Home Hill High for the 13s - Opens. It’s tricky for the 12 years as their Burdekin trials are separate from the 13s to Opens. However, they get the opportunity to compete twice for their age group – competing at the senior’s event where they can contribute to the Cross Country Champion School and overall Champion Sporting School for 2019. The effort from many of our students at the Interschool event did  not go unnoticed, with Home Hill SHS taking out 2nd place in overall points for the day! Thank you to all the students who contributed to the Cross Country Champion School and Overall Sporting School Trophy for 2019.

Many thanks to the year 11 and 12 helpers at the BSS carnival and the staff who volunteered to give up their spare to supervise the track or be recorders. Of our place getters, 6 runners really did Home Hill proud. They were Jasmine Styles, Daniel Schneider, Kaitlin Daley, Aaliyah Gibson, Dayna Linton and Brandon Enoch who was a reserve. Most events had up to 100 runners on the line, so to come in the top 20 was very impressive. Best of luck to Jasmine Styles who placed first in her age division with a convincing win at NQ trials held on Tuesday 28 June and Daniel Schneider who also placed in the top 6 and will now both progress to Queensland trials.
