Burdekin Future Leaders Group

Applications for the Burdekin Future Leaders Group are open. At the end of the last school year, students now in grades 11 and 12 were presented to about the program. With applications closing on 12 February students are encouraged to apply to participate in this fantastic opportunity.
The Burdekin Future Leaders Group has been established to motivate, inspire and further develop the leadership skills of a select group of senior school students who will become the future leaders of the Burdekin Shire.
Successful participants will meet monthly to take part in a range of activities that will broaden their knowledge of issues affecting the region, identify opportunities within the region, increase confidence and community participation, enhance leadership skills and networks and learn in a practical and stimulating environment with access to existing Burdekin leaders from a variety of industries.
Burdekin Future Leaders Group member selection will be conducted annually via a nomination and interview process for interested participants. Modules of study will include personal development in leadership, goal setting, public speaking and networking, key industries, current future and emerging industry trends, industry field trips, work experience and presentations.  Participants will also work in groups with an assigned mentor to deliver a project concept at the conclusion of the program at the graduation ceremony.
There are no examinations for the program, however participants are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 80 per cent across all program events.
