Mighty Meal Challenge

Judge Nyree Woods with Haydon Hanlon & Shakieta Sollitt and Rotarian Robert Marshall.

Last Wednesday Mrs Kerr’s year 11 and 12 Hospitality students competed in the Rotary Meal Challenge. Each year, students must create a two course menu for two people under $17.  This year Judge Nyree Woods had the difficult task of finding a winner based on cost, taste and kitchen organisation. Year 11 student, Shakieta Sollitt’s delightful Chicken Parmigiana and Chocolate Hazelnut Tart was awarded first place with senior student Hayden Hanlon taking second with a delicious Honey Soy Pork Stir-fry and Rice Pudding with Pineapple Compote combination. Special mentions went to Shirley Steinhardt, Michael Torney, Mariah Johnson and Liam Mitchell for elements of their menus.

Mrs Kerr praised the students on their preparation leading up to the event and the way they worked on the night. She also thanked the staff, judges and Rotarians, who all helped make it such a success.
