NATIONAL ABORIGINAL TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER DAY OF CELEBRATION (NAIDOC)
NAIDOC week at Home Hill High began with Year 10 Indigenous student Katherine Hookey, presenting to her peers and staff the ‘Acknowledgement to Country’ and the theme of NAIDOC 2013, ‘We value the vision: Yirrkala Bark Petition 1963’.
Students, staff, parents and visitors were treated to a NAIDOC themed breakfast and lunch with wallaby and kangaroo on the menu.  Students participated in a colouring competition and produced a NAIDOC painting.  Award-winning Indigenous Author, Boori (Monty) Pryor performed for the years 8, 10 and all the Indigenous students, and the Resource Centre put on a beautiful NAIDOC display bringing awareness to all who enter the Library.
