QAMT Victory!

Shima Tustin, Isabella Linton and Jacob Machin, Burdekin QAMT winners

Two teams of Home Hill High School students gained first and third place when they put their thinking caps on in the Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers competition held at Burdekin Catholic High last week. The Home Hill team consisting of Bella Linton, Shima Tustin and Jacob Machin have advanced to the North Queensland final after they took out the local finals against teams from Burdekin Catholic High, Ayr State High and Burdekin Christian College.  Head of Department and maths coach, Mr Scalia was thrilled to see Home Hill High continue with its outstanding reputation when it came to the quiz, as it had won the annual quiz on several occasions.  The school is extremely proud to see both Home Hill teams achieve first and third placings with only one point separating first from third. The extremely close points saw the two Home Hill teams neck and neck for most of the competition.

The school and community look forward to the outcome when the Home Hill students go up against private and public school teams from Townsville and Charters Towers on the 28th August.
