The Youth Health Nurse works with the school community on issues that may affect the health and wellbeing of young people and the school community as a whole. Students, parents and staff can speak to Sue-Ann confidentially about health issues that may be concerning them.

The Youth Health Nurse can provide information to students on a range of issues including:

  • healthy eating and physical activity
  • feeling unhappy or stressed
  • feeling anxious or depressed
  • relationship problems with family or peers
  • puberty and sexual health
  • smoking, alcohol and other drugs
  • sun awareness
The Youth Health Nurse does not provide:
  • treatment such as medications or first aid
  • physical examinations
  • intensive on-going counselling for psychological problems

Sue-Ann is at Home Hill State High School every Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  Teachers and parents can refer students to Sue-Ann when necessary. Students can make appointments to see Sue-Ann in class time or during the lunch breaks.
