​​School Captains

Two School Captains are elected.  Student applicants are nominated by their peers and the teaching staff.  Short listed nominees are then interviewed and selected. School Captains represent the school in at numerous school and community functions.

Junior Secondary Captains

A male and female captain are selected from the year 9 cohort each year to represent the Junior Secondary student body. They work with the Junior Secondary Student Council Representatives and the chairs of three Junior Secondary committees. The captains represent the school at various occasions, are part of the transition between primary and secondary schools, and are actively involved in providing feedback to the Junior Secondary Head of Department and the Principal.

Indigenous Student Leader

This role is designed to provide a voice for the indigenous students within our school. This student works with the Community Education Counsellor and the Principal, and actively liaises with indigenous students. The leader will assist new students coming into the school, encourage leadership by other indigenous students and be part of organisation of activities to promote indigenous culture.

Student Council

A Student Council operates within the school, led by an executive of five students that are elected by their peers.  Each class also has an elected representative. Regular meetings are held and the results communicated to the Principal. The Student Council runs a number of fundraising events throughout the year including:

  • Burdekin Grower Race Day Clean-up
  • Free Dress Days
  • Discos

The Student council uses the funds raised to improve the school, nominating projects such as water coolers, new seating or goal posts for the oval.

The Student Council also organises, under the direction of supervising teacher, the following community events:

  • Australia Day Ceremony
  • Clean Up Australia Day
  • Anzac Day Dawn Services, Community March and School Service
  • Red Shield Appeal

House Captains

House Captains​ are nominated by members of their respective houses. ​House Captains organise their team members at sports carnival days.

Senior Committees

The senior students form a number of committees in order to perform particular tasks throughout the year that relate to the senior student body.​​
