CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY 2025
On the morning of Sunday 2 March, 20 students
and six staff gave up their Sunday morning sleep in
to attend school and help out with Clean Up
Australia Day, run by the Student Council. We are very lucky to have a beautiful schoolwhich is already pretty tidy, thanks to the work ofour groundsman, janitor and cleaners. So, eventhough it was a hot day, it didn’t take us long (1 –2 hours) to collect the rubbish lying around theplace.Principal, Mrs Sharon O’Neill, made the point thatour main “problem” around the school is thevolume of microplastics (eg. bottle tops, straws, small plastic wrappers, etc.) that can get into ourwaterways and choke our wildlife. Because we found the job fairly quick and easy, when we had finished we spent some time justchilling out, having a cool drink and a bite to eat(Thanks for providing the morning tea, MrsTodeschino!), playing a bit of handball andvolleyball, and decorating B Block Staffroom forMrs Viero’s belated birthday. (Thanks for thedecorations, Mrs Ogomeni!)We are very grateful to work in a school wherestudents and staff love their school school and careenough to give up a little part of their weekend tokeep it tidy.
