After a false start earlier in the term, the Student Council was able to conduct its Clean Up Australia Day event on the morning of Sunday, 21 March 2021, from 9:00am to 11:00am. A total of 23 students, 6 teachers, Nurse Wilkie and Mrs Cooke were all in attendance. Despite rain showers conspiring to dampen the event, there were some interesting finds to be found, but not too much hard work to be done, because our school, thanks in part to our lovely cleaning staff, is really in pretty good nick when it comes to cleanliness and tidiness.
Some of the found items included a chess piece, nails, bolts, screws, a sign holder, a mudguard, a ten dollar note, a purse and human hair! Miss Fritsch's group, which included Tayah Gibson, Jasmine Styles, Dean Kaminski and Jacob Machin, found a battery pack, two volleyballs, a butterfly and birds' eggs. Jacob Machin did his very best David Attenborough impersonation with the birds' eggs, then they were returned to their nest under the watchful eye of Mrs Todeschino. Mr Gall's group, which included Liam Todeschino, Jackson Cooke and Campbell Cooke, found a part of the road when they were searching for direction, Wilson the coconut and a picture of Bruce, the shark! Both of these groups were awarded tuckshop vouchers for their finds.
After all this activity, the entire group demolished ten giant pizzas and a number of soft drinks in a matter of minutes to complete the morning's work.
The entire group in attendance on the morning was as follows.

Many thanks to all involved for a job well done! And just remember the following words of wisdom from Mrs Cooke: Two minutes of your time spent putting your rubbish in the bin at lunch time saves a lot more of other people's time later on.
