House Captains were also presented with certificates and thanked for their commitment to the roles. It is understood by taking up these roles as House Captains that they organise and encourage younger peers to participate in all areas of sporting life. They are to also co-ordinate and assist PE Staff with the running of carnivals.

This year's guest speaker was Emma Lawson.  Ms Lawson was unable to attend in person, but generously took time out of her busy life to record a special video message for our students. Emma Lawson is a recent youth Olympian, who has grown up in the Burdekin. At the young age of 22, Emma made huge strides in her Boxing career, such as placing fourth in the world for junior boxers, she has won two national titles as well as won the Youth Oceania Championships. Emma has been boxing since she was 13 and is currently still training. She has also extended this to the youth of the Burdekin, coaching at our own PCYC to inspire the next generation.

We appreciate that Emma took the time to address our students in her inspirational video presentation.

We were also fortunate to have Mr Doug Chappell, who has assisted the school with all things Rugby League for many years, present awards to the four students that he saw stand out in competition this year.  Rowen Petersen, Luke Blacklock and Kalen Linton were honoured with these awards.

A big thanks as always to the various people who helped on the night and in its preparation, especially the year 12 students and House Captains who all did a fantastic job with speeches and trophy organisation. Well done to all students who received awards on the night and thank you for your efforts in sport this year.

The major awards for the evening were as follows.
